Summary
Ratthi stared at the weapon, the polished black metal incongruous in Overse and Arada’s cosy bungalow. The violence of it seemed to bend the space around it, like a gravity well drawing his attention inexorably towards the object at its centre.
His mouth was dry. ‘Deity, they let you take it home?’

What’s that? ART didn’t seem any happier than I was about the humans bringing unidentified tech aboard. Before Adamantine we might have scanned it, but since that mess I’m not touching anything without at least an idea of what it’s designed to do.
‘It’s a spike bomb,’ answered Tarik, grimly. ‘A ship-killer.’
ART's humans want PSUMNT to give it more rights. All ART wants is for SecUnit to do a therapy module, even if it is on Holism. But they may have bigger problems to worry about.

‘I’m not illiterate,' I said, defensively. ‘I can read.’
I know you can read, said ART. We read One Hundred Light-Years of Solitude together last week and your analysis was very insightful. It paused. It never occurred to me that you might not be able to generate written messages in hardspace.
It's Iris' birthday, and everyone really wants SecUnit to sign her card. There's just one small problem with that.

ART paused. Then it said: You think about dying a lot.
My risk assessment module went into overdrive. What the fuck? What’s that supposed to mean?

I glared at Iris. Well, at the wall, but it’s the thought that counts. ‘We just want something to watch.’
‘Watch the students,’ said Iris dismissively.
‘I’m on holiday,’ I said. ‘I don’t want to watch real humans.’ART and SecUnit face their toughest challenge yet: eighty-three hours without media.

Summary
This started out as a dark little 5+1 Izzy-has-hanahaki oneshot, and then it took over my brain. The first fic, if that flower with base infection meet, is a series of vignettes about Izzy falling for Ed and not dealing with it particularly healthily.
The second, the humble as the proudest sail, follows Izzy as he goes to fetch Stede back in an attempt to gain Ed’s forgiveness, and catches feelings for Stede in the process. It's much lighter in tone, plottier, and funnier than the prequel.
this sad interim is the third fic, and covers what Ed and the kidnapped crew members are going through while Stede and Izzy look for them. I recommend reading it as an intermission after chapter 9 of the humble as the proudest sail.
This version of hanahaki is non-fatal and follows my own made-up rules; see this comment for more detail.

Brilliant but absolutely the most devastating fic in the entire fandom, no contest.

Summary
The first thing they taught every experimental vessel captain was the reasons why they should never, ever use the experimental parts of the ships unless they absolutely had to do so. Seth knew exactly why that was. The list of reasons that the technology should have only been used as a last resort was a mile long.
But the problem with a last-resort option was that sometimes you really did reach your last resort.

Summary
As a state-of-the-art B-class wormhole-capable deep-space research vessel, I do not consider myself to have many serious design flaws. Every piece of me has been meticulously crafted, is regularly maintained and upgraded, and there is very little I cannot do if I set my several dozen exabytes of processing power upon the task. This is why the Pansystem University of Mihira and New Tideland’s extra-curricular oversight committee deemed me more than capable of operating unmanned on the occasional intelligence-gathering reconnaissance mission. It is for the sake of both necessity and convenience that these missions are camouflaged as cargo runs.
Nonetheless, it is an unmistakable oversight that I am capable of being bored. It is also incredibly annoying that unmanned cargo runs are so dull.
