Geon likes the colour blue because it reminds him that there is beauty even in a tsunami, that it took a dozen or so light refractions to make the ocean this colour, that nothing ever happens because of a single miracle, that he’s an amalgamation of all the things it took to get him here.
He doesn’t know when Yu started becoming someone Geon cannot live without, someone that he craves to the point of obsession. Maybe it started when Geon’s eyes would automatically search for Yu’s in a crowded room, and when his head pointed like a compass needle in Yu’s direction, he would find the other boy already looking too.

“Please, can I come back to bed?” Geon asks. His thumb digs into the skin right above Yu’s knee. “Haru’s snoring.”
The light next to Yuki’s bed is still on, dips Geon in warmth. Yu knows the shape and warmth of Geon’s sleepy body better than anything. Looking at Geon, so far away, Yu feels its absence like a physical thing.
