Kal-el, a freelance journalist specializing in xenobiology correspondence, is in love. A surly little unclassified mammalian at the shelter he volunteers at has stolen his core. He’s never had a pet before and this creature has a history of servere behavioral problems, but he can’t let the poor thing stay at the shelter forever without trying to save it.
