Leon got it. Seriously, he did. Omega's got the short end of the stick. He had seen too many labs and too many records to ever carelessly get himself into some fucked up situation like forgetting a suppressant or taking a mission in preheat. “I need to ask you a favor.” There was a regretful note to Chris’s words, no doubt because Leon had literally come back from debrief and crashed six hours earlier. “How fast can you get back to the DSO?”
“Twenty minutes if I pretend traffic laws don’t exist.” Leon was up and moving, putting the call on speaker and dropping the phone on his bed. Shaving would have to wait, but he needed to get dressed in something more than boxer-briefs and an old STRATCOM shirt. His go-bag was still by the door, so he only had to grab a few things… “You clear this with the brass?”
“Talked to Director Savage myself. Have to say, he’s a lot more personable than Simmons.” Chris with the understatement of the year, surrounded by humor that faded quickly. “Listen, the chopper that’s picking you up will have Piers on it–he’ll explain everything. Or, well, what we know so far. But the short version is, I need you to play bodyguard for a while. Could be a few days, or it might be longer than that. I’ll update you as soon as I can.”
Bodyguard, huh? That had the potential to be easier than his last mission was, or a whole fuck of a lot harder.

He tried not to think of that time now, as he sat, shut in his boxy little apartment that Chris had basically shoved him into and told him that he wasn’t going anywhere else so he should get used to it. Cooped up and distressed, pacing about the living room with his hands shoved deeply into his pockets where no more trauma could befall them, although he was pleasantly surprised that his chewed off fingers had made a return. Slowly. He didn’t want to put too much thought into that though. Terrified of becoming a spectacle to the doctors who, under Chris’ watchful eye, had stared, baffled, at his vitals and then at Ethan himself. Unsure of what to say.
