The most beautiful love story I've read on this site. It's happy, and sad, and gut wrenching. It's about finding your own love and family on your own terms, even if it isn't perfect, even if it's hurt, and making it the best it can be.
It's about grief and moving on from the scars of the past—both physical and emotional— and finding value in what you have in your life right now. In what you will have in the future. In the friendships you can forge.
The story hurts as much as it heals, every happy moment is met with an equally powerful moment of pain.
It makes the ending even more sweet, when everybody is allowed to be happy. The martyr finds something to live for.
