Roy's only just a man, and a weak one at that where Edward Elric is concerned. Roy – stupidly, selfishly – wants this too much to keep trying to resist it, and Edward looks far too beautiful right here on his knees for Roy to even want to try to deny him. If he wants to do this, well then... Roy is too far gone to care anyway. Edward wants this too. No harm done then, right?
That's what Roy settles for telling himself anyway.

He wrestles with the hollow ache threatening to swallow him whole until it submits, forcing it into the ancient lead box in his mind and locking it tight.
He sends the stranger wearing Clark's face a lopsided smile. "I'm a friend."
Clark blinks once. "You can take me to the sign?"
Lex turns away again, not trusting his expression as he says, "What are friends for?"

Later, Roy will swear that it started out completely innocently. A bit of harmless fun, though it could be very well argued that he has a slightly skewed understanding of fun. Or harmless, for that matter. The intention is—well, not good-natured, quite the opposite really, but he doesn’t mean for anything in particular to happen. Except having Edward scream at him a little, perhaps, which shouldn’t be something he takes as much pleasure in as he does, he’s aware, though it’s difficult not to when Edward’s rants always make for such great entertainment.
Then again, aggravating his subordinates for his own amusement in the first place is not something he should have any plausible reason for doing—except for the fact that he is a terrible man with a godawful sense of humour and not a shred of healthy sensibility, but that is neither here nor there.
or: Roy merely wants to be little bit of an asshole and accidentally uncovers Edward’s praise kink.
