Summary
“Open the doors.” Tim says frowning thoughtfully as he stares at the lone wolf snarling and attacking the walls. All the furniture in the room that the league had lured the wolf into with Robin’s scent is smashed to smithereens, and there are long claw marks over the doors. The wolf’s ears are tucked backward, teeth on display.
Immediately all the present justice league members protest in unison, all talking over each other. Most of their complaints add up to them believing that the wolf will kill Tim the instant he enters the room, and later when Batman gets back, he’ll take it out on them.
Which – fair enough, considering what happened the last time Bruce thought Tim was dead. But Tim has a plan, this time.

Oh. There are a handful of gods that are that powerful. Percy has met most of them, and knows enough of the rest to recognize them on sight. The scathing insult on the edge of his tongue dies, and Percy relaxes.

Out of the corner of his eye, he sees something. A soul. As soon as he turns his attention towards it, it leaps away like a small penguin fleeing a leopard seal, scurrying down into a cavern. It moves quickly and fluidly like a ghost, keeping just out of sight. Poseidon hurries after it. Perhaps it can tell him where Percy is sheltering. Percy must be alive - all demigods share a connection with their godly parent. Poseidon would know if his son died. He would’ve felt it. “It’s hard not to,” Ms. Goldstein says softly. “When people are hurting, their thoughts are the loudest.”
And that - well. It would be a lie to say that Newt wasn’t hurting, but it would hardly be a fair assessment of the situation. The official story was that Newt had gotten expelled for bringing a Jarvey to Hogwarts, unleashing it onto a student who had gotten wounds large enough to warrant an overnight stay in Hogwart’s infirmary.
The unofficial story however, was much more complicated and not something one could understand from a mere few seconds of legilimency.

“Ask me for sanctuary. I’ll protect you.” Hades had once offered the young son of Poseidon, many many years ago. He had thought of his late Maria di Angelo’s fate, and his two children he had been forced to abandon to the Lotus Casino for their own protection and the words had slipped out.
Hades hadn’t expected the son of Poseidon to accept his offer then. Hades certainly hadn’t expected him to take him up on his offer now, over five years later.
It hadn’t made any sense. Poseidon was overly protective of all of his children, especially the ones of partial mortal descent. Among them Perseus was the favorite and Poseidon didn’t miss a single opportunity to brag about him, or deliver threats should anyone allude to even looking at his son wrong.

“Tell me.” Persephone says, sitting up and leaning towards Hermes with a glint of mischievousness. Not for the first time, Hades spots the half-sibling familiarity between them. Hades hopes another around of Hermes-Percy prank wars isn't about to start. The parthenon barely survived the first.
“Percy’s initial description of Hades-”
“Shut up-” Percy lunges off the sofa towards Hermes. Within a blink of the eye, the god of speed places the love seat between them. Demeter and Poseidon momentarily stop their bickering to look at the second generation gods.
“-was rather spicy.” Hermes finishes, grinning as he dodges Percy’s increasingly motivated attempts to grab the book. “Would you like me to read it?”

Hermes pushes the eject passenger button, and the seat launches Percy into the air.

As soon as Percy can feasibly get sneak away, he does. He knows the palace like the back of his hand having grown up here, so it doesn’t take him long to go down to the dungeons. He approaches the cell, and instructs the guard to open the far one and then take a long break from his post.
“I brought you some food.” Percy says, when the guard is no longer in earshot.
Ambassador Hermes, an illegitimate child of King Zeus and Percy’s best friend lifts his head up from the cot in the cell. Its blasphemous that Hermes of all people would be imprisoned. Then again, compared to the other choices Triton has made for him, for their kingdom - its a drop in the ocean.
“Your brother isn’t using his newfound power as King to starve me, you know.” Hermes says, with some irony upon spotting the platter of food.
“So you don’t want any?” Percy teases. It's half hearted, and he doesn't even make a move to leave. “Fine. I’ll just take it back-”

Everything seemed to pass in between one blink and the next. Kissing Magnus, sliding the ring onto his finger, and then watching him leave for Edom. The look Magnus had given him before entering the portal is seared under his eyelids. Magnus had smiled at him, bittersweet after Alec said, it’s only Edom. You always come back, because the thought, the mere idea of Magnus being trapped in Edom for the rest of their lives, for all eternity is unimaginable.
Unacceptable.
There is no universe where Alec will let that happen. There’s no way that Alec will just leave Magnus in Edom.

Summary
Percy hasn’t told anyone how strong he’s become. That would only take a single push to break the fragile membrane containing his mortality.
It's moments like these that remind Percy how close to godhood he is. It’s in the way Percy constantly feels like he’s larger than his physical body. He can feel the ancient underworld rivers running through Hades’s kingdom, and remembers how when he reaches for them they fight his control but ultimately bend under his will.
If he stretches his senses, he can even glimpse his father’s domain all the way on the surface world, the ocean constantly churning. The sea is always in the back of his mind singing its siren song, beckoning him to accept his fate and reminding Percy of the non-insignificant power he holds over the very fabric of the world.
