Summary
After Sonny’s win in Abu Dhabi, Ruben agreed to let him leave, and the man went on to drive around the country, doing odd jobs and racing whatever he could.
Only a few months later did Ruben call him up again — he needed help. He had made a mistake, signed a young driver who had been let go from Sauber after a difficult season. The previous year’s rookie of the year was known for being argumentative, too argumentative. He had failed to execute what he had been ordered many times, but not more than the number of arguments he had with not only his engineer, but the whole team including Wheatley. Despite him being a driver with a bright future, even getting an impressive P7 in the car, they couldn’t take the pressure and they let him go.
Raymond Hartt ended up in APX GP, a fast driver but one that was a magnet for trouble. After an alarming amount of orders having gone ignored by the man, Ruben had no choice other than reaching out to Sonny, whom he had appointed to be the only person who could mentor Ray and help him into the right path.
Having nothing better to do and being in need of money, Sonny agreed to be the driver’s new strategist, putting the older one on hold to let Hayes test the waters.
