Summary
Running is freeing.
It's something Tesla has learned over the years. Sure-footed in a bramble-coated forest, they race through familiar trails, weaving between tree trunks and tracing murky streams. They know every landmark, every location of volunteer stalls for supplies and medical aid, every damn inch of dirt and muck and pure untamed wild.
They may not have an alpha's nose, or an omega's tricks, but there's still something primal about it all. No houses, no civilisation. Just the smell of pine sap, the crunch of needles and leaf litter underfoot, animal trails carving through bushland that presses on without an end in sight.
There's nothing but themselves and the flora. No sideways glances, no fighting for so much as a sliver of recognition, just open air and raw adrenaline.

Tesla has strong-armed their way into participating in the yearly mating run despite their diagnosis as a beta. This is their sixth year running.

“Half,” Doc says. “We’ll take half now, and the rest in a week’s time. I believe Tesla has set up the necessary measures to store what we remove—”
“Relax, Doc. I’m not a baby. I got this.” Rust turns his attention over to Tesla. “Take it all. Doc’ll patch me right up after.”
Tesla glances over their shoulder. “If you pass out from the blood loss, I’ll stop, but I have seen you shrug off major injuries and head wounds as if they’re nothing, so I believe it’ll be fine.”

Zero’s faceplate pixelates with the embarrassment. “I haven’t even like…” Their voice skews softer, quieter, as if scared to admit it aloud. “… kissed anyone.”
“Do you want to?” Rust asks without thinking.
“I mean, yeah,” they say with a small shrug, “But I’m not like you. I wouldn’t want it to be with just anyone.”
“Well, I mean—” And then he pauses, because what he’s about to say is insane. Potentially friendship-ruining. But Zero’s looking at him again, head slightly tilted, and it’s not like he can simply leave his sentence there, or pretend like he was going to say something different. After all, Zero has always had a way of needling the truth right out of him.
He swallows. Draws in a breath, and says, “I’m here. It’s just the two of us. If you, y’know, wanted to.”

"Aye aye, captain,” he responds with a mocking little salute. Tesla narrows their eyes, but ultimately spends no further time on it, simply side-stepping him to hand out keycards amongst the crew.
“So.” Rust holds up the keycard and wiggles it as if jingling keys. “Need a room, sunshine?”

the title is based of the canon fact that tombsonas dont do time and NOT anything to do with the actual FF spare us i cant write titles to save our live.
*sigh* there hasn't been an actual update to chosen in forever. so, here I am. doing it myself (poorly as usual). consistency has never been a strong suit. even as i try to keep this canon accurate there isn't much canon so I will be taking more than a few creative liberties. including backstories. please Mr. Haft I crave canon. i need my chicken nugget of canonicity that i am fed once a year. my soul (and fictives) crave the canon nuggets/hj id say probably no spoilers for the actual chosen comic or at least nothing you cant find by reading through the lore channel. as said this is almost entirely based on my hc's of canon. the T.up is here bc mentioning blood and death and writing that shtuff don't go down to well in the general tag.
oh yeah content warning for like blood and stuff, really just my interpretation of tesla is a bit iffy to general and may need a cw. its short tho so maybe its fine.?
