Summary
After the near end of the world, and his personal brush with death at the hands of the Krang, Leo would argue that the fact his heat cycle snuck up on him wasn't exactly his fault. Never mind that it was three months early.
Six months after the Krang, Leo finds himself alone in the lair with Raph, both well on the way to full recovery as spring hits, as their family finally takes the time to unwind and get back to a semblance of normal. However, when is life ever normal when you're a teenage mutant ninja turtle?
A fateful encounter in the kitchen (Of which Mikey is NEVER to know about) changes everything for two brothers, sending them down an unexpected path.

This was probably the closest one could get to peaked-as-a-teenager, burnt out former gifted kid syndrome when they were a mutant ninja turtle.
Sure, they'd defeated the Shredder and the Krang, but that was about 20 years ago. Ever since then its been nothing more than petty crimes and supernatural shenanigans and, well, that wasn't really fulfilling. At least, not anymore. No big bad guys, no more "save the world" schemes...
Not that Donatello wanted to save the world again, that was stressful and traumatic enough for everyone the first time. Well, he would if he had to, I mean, that's what superheroes do, right?
They don't just sit around trying to keep themselves busy, trying every hobby under the sun, waiting for that spark to come back, just going through the motions, letting themselves be miserable...
...right?
Thats what he thought until people started disappearing and someone started making new mutants.

Because Mikey’s not paying attention to what’s in front of them, Leo sees it first through the thinning fog. He thinks it’s a tree trunk at a glance, tall and slender and curving oddly where it rises above the others. Then it moves, bending as if in a wind, and by the time it twists around to face the car, Leo realizes it’s not a tree at all.
“What,” he says, feeling entirely too small in the open-top Jeep.
Mikey, who went through a dinosaur phase that lasted the entirety of his pre-teen years, points at it and declares, “Sauropod!”
“Animatronic,” Leo says, “right?”
“Right,” Mikey parrots automatically. Then, more slowly, “I mean, it has to be. Right?”
“Right,” Leo agrees, but his heart isn’t in it.
The first Jeep has slowed to an abrupt stop, and theirs slows to a stop behind it. The dinosaur trumpets at them, like the elephants at Mikey’s zoo, and half a dozen other slender necks rise out of the mist at the call to peer in their direction.

I'm not famous enough for this to really be an issue, and to be honest this fic did not gain enough attention for anyone reading this to really care, but it felt warranted anyway, I started this fic two years ago and left it when I moved across the country, not a whole lot is posted but a whole lot has been written.
