The institute wasn't a warm place to work, it was actually quite cold, but Martin unfortunately happened to sit next to the heater. He could feel the sweat dripping down his skin. Why did he have to sit here? He was staring at the dial to turn it down again. He should be focusing on his work. It's his fault he was stuck in this cardigan, he was an idiot. Such a big fucking idiot. He just had to use his wrists, not his ankles or thighs. Idiot, his hand was scratching at the cuts, picking at the scabs that hadn't even fully formed yet.

Despite being raised among them, there were many things that Jon never quite understood about humans, not the least of which being love. That strange connection that people often spoke of like it was the greatest thing in the world. Though perhaps even stranger is that they were the target of such affections, from three different people no less! In a last ditch effort to prevent whatever oncoming disaster would follow their assistants trying to flirt with them, Jon reveals their true nature hoping to make the trio stop.
This does not have the intended effect.

"It's… unimaginative. They can describe a scene, certainly, but the writing feels devoid of any feeling other than disproportionate wide-eyed wonder. In fact, their only inspiration seems to be rain, the streets of London, and rain on the streets of London. Not to mention that their writing style is so enamoured with Keats that it lacks any distinction of its own. What do you think of it?"
Jon does not seem to have given the man the intellectual stimulation that he's looking for.
"Oh…" His eyebrows are nearing his hairline. His front teeth overlap, Jon notes when he offers a nervous smile. That's quite cute. "Um, I- I wrote it?"

A weird person clad in pastels walks into the Institute.
They have a knowing look in their eyes and a soft smile on their lips in which even they themself have to work to believe. Maybe it betrays that strange young ancientness one gathers within the Gap between Worlds. Maybe they are just queer and neurodivergent. Either way, they learnt about different possibilities and wish to share these options to widen the choices, even when they themself aren't sure if they are truly real.~~~
Decided to toss our TMA OCs (a post Eyepocalypse fusion of Jon and Martin (who went through supernatural therapy)) into TMA for philosophy purposes.
This is a very positive somewhat of an analysis of identity, personhood, fear, and what it means to be a human and alive.

“Okay,” he nods carefully. “I’m going to play… not quite devil’s advocate, but maybe like… mildly argumentative trickster elf’s advocate here for a minute, and I don’t want you to hear it as invalidating your conclusion or anything, I’m not, I’m just raising, in the service of understanding, that… clothes and hair and presentation and stuff… and gender… they aren’t the same thing -”
Jon snorts.
“Paging Dr Johnson,” he mumbles, “With important insights for his dictionary project.”
Martin flicks his ear.
“Yes, alright, prick, but you know it’s true. There’s a difference between liking wearing roomier clothes and you know… gender stuff.”
Jon nods slowly.
Then he drags his top teeth across the curve of his bottom lip, and winces cautiously. The nodding becomes a shake of the head, as Martin had predicted it might.
“No, I… I’m pretty sure it is… gender stuff. Actually.”
He removes his hand from Martin’s and buries his face in his hands to groan.
