Chapter 6: The End

Notes:

This is it, the end. When I started this, I couldn’t decide who I wanted Will to end up with. So I decided to do what I wished canon would do. Give him all the love and happiness he deserved.

Enjoy!

Thank you for all your support!

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

God this was torture. Every time Will thought he had a chance to talk to them again, someone else would come and drag him away for the stupidest little thing. What the hell did he know about the upcoming school trip? Who gave a shit if Trisha from drama got caught with Logan on the football team, behind the bleachers? Did winning really mean he was suddenly at the top of Hawkins High’s social hierarchy? Seriously?

What felt like hours later, the night finally wound down. A number of students were already moving onto the next event, a party by Lover’s Lake. While a fair few were already making plans to find somewhere to hook up. As for Will, he was determined to end this once and for all.

“Can we talk?”

He approached Chance first, before grabbing Lucas and Max too. The three followed him without protest, exchanging knowing looks.

They ended up in the nearby park, which was empty. Unsurprising given the late hour. They sat down at one of the picnic benches, with a nearby street lamp giving them just enough light to see.

“Uh, okay so, we kind of got interrupted earlier.” Will said, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly.

“No kidding, King Byers.” Max teased, resting her elbows on the table and propping her chin up with her hands. She gave him a teasing smile.

“Jesus, Max. Don’t call me that ever again.” He groaned, already starting to laugh.

The other two watched them with fond smiles, despite their own nerves. Unbeknownst to Will, the three of them had a chance to talk. To consider what their lives without Will would be like. That had led to talking about other things, important things. Things that needed explaining.

“Hey Will, before we get into this, we have something to tell you.” Lucas said.

The laughter stopped. Will’s stomach twisted. Max sat back, trying to hide her own anxiety, by tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.

“Tell me what?”

He was smiling, but all three could tell he wasn’t enjoying any of it. Lucas, who’d known him the longest, could recognise his growing anxiety. From the way his fingers dug into the wood of the table, to the way he kept shifting in his seat. Like he was ready to stand and flee at any given moment.

Lucas made a decision. He reached out, putting his hand on top of his, then squeezed it once. It wasn’t meant to be intimate, or a way to convince Will to choose them. He just wanted to remind Will that no matter what happened, he’d have his back. Always. Forever.

“What you said earlier, about wanting all of us, was that true?”

Will blinked. “What? No! I mean…I mean yeah, I guess. But in a completely unattainable fantasy kind of way. I was just…I mean I didn’t mean—”

“What if it was attainable?” Lucas continued.

If this was Chance asking this, Will might have assumed the worst. That this was some kind of joke at his expense. Chance was still pretty unknown to him. Whatever vulnerabilities they had shared, could have been some twisted plot to get him to lower his guard and humiliate him. He desperately hoped that wasn’t the case, but part of him couldn’t help but worry.

But it wasn’t Chance asking. It was Lucas. One of his best friends. The guy who had never stopped fighting for him, even when Mike did, while he was distracted by El. Lucas would never hurt him like this. Never.

“I don’t understand.”

Ignorance was the safe option. It was what kept the rest of Hawkins alive during those terrible years. So surely it would serve him well now. Right?

“Will, you deserve good things. So many good things. And we all talked about it.” Max said gently, moving to join Lucas in holding his hand.

“About everything.” Chance added, moving to hold his other hand. “By the way, I have so many questions. So many questions. Gotta say though, I knew that thing I saw wasn’t a raccoon in my trash can.”

Will’s breath hitched. Had they…really?

“If this is something you want, something you actually want, then we’re willing to negotiate. To share.” Lucas admitted quietly.

“You, me and Lucas some of the time.” Max continued.

“And you and me the rest.” Chance added, giving his hand a squeeze.

Will just sat there, gaping at them all like an idiot. Seconds passed, then a minute, then another minute. The three exchanged nervous looks.

“Will?”

“Holy shit! Sorry, I just…I think I blacked out a second there. I thought you said something crazy!” Will breathed out, giving a little laugh.

“About us sharing you?” Max smirked. Only Lucas noticed the trembling in her fingers, betraying her nerves.

Will nodded.

“Yeah, that was real. So, what do you think?” Chance asked. He was trying to hide his own nerves by plastering on a smile. He wasn’t sure if it was working.

When Max had suggested it earlier on, his first instinct had been to reject it. Share Will? Were they serious? He didn’t sign up for no goddamn orgy. Being queer, or half queer, was already hard enough, without whatever they were suggesting making things totally insane. When he said as much to the pair of them, that’s when they decided to let him in on a little secret.

Monsters. Mad scientists. Superheroes. Another world. It sounded like the premise of a pretty gnarly movie. Yet it had all happened, right here in Hawkins. Obviously he hadn’t believed them at first. But they had proof; pictures from Will’s brother, copies of reports that sure looked official. If it really was a hoax, why had the military been there? The more he thought about it, really thought about it, the more it started to make sense.

That meant Will, his Will, had been through a hell of a lot more than he’d ever imagined. He’d been kidnapped, tortured and assaulted countless times. A lesser man would have broken long ago. And yet Will hadn’t. He’d only grown stronger. With powers to boot and hadn’t that been a wild revelation.

Max was right. After losing almost everything: his childhood, his innocence, his hope and friends along the way, Will deserved only good things from now on. He deserved this.

Sharing wasn’t cheating. Not if everyone agreed. That didn’t make it easy, not by a long shot. There was a lot that could go wrong. There was a lot that would go wrong. But realistically, they only had this year together before college separated them all anyway. They said college was a time to experiment, so really, by doing this, weren’t they all just getting ahead of the game?

“I think you’re all nuts.”

That made them laugh. They nodded in agreement.

Will swallowed nervously, then he squeezed back. “How…how would this even work?”

“Well…we’d have to talk about it a lot obviously. Work out what we all want. What we don’t want. And if we have sex, we gotta use condoms.” Max said.

“And get tested too. You heard that shit they’ve been saying on the news? It’s serious stuff. Deadly serious.” Chance added with a frown.

Will nodded, even as a faint blush appeared on his cheeks. While he wasn’t quite as innocent as he had once been, he still hadn’t done much. Maybe now he’d finally get to see what he’d been missing?

There was a pause as the others waited for him to say something. When he didn’t, Max finally nudged him.

“So, what do you think?”

What did he think? He thought they were mental. Trippin’. Going bananas. However anyone wanted to say it, they were all crazy for even thinking about it!

“…Okay.”

Maybe they were crazy, but so was he. He had to be at least a little crazy after everything he’d lived through.

“Okay?” Lucas leaned in, staring at him intently.

Max’s hand tightened around his. So did Chance’s.

“Let’s do it.” He confirmed.

“So we’re doing this?”

Will laughed. “Apparently.”

They all grinned back at him. All just as nervous and scared as each other. But all willing to put their hearts on the line for this, for Will. For now.

“But if we do this, we’ve gotta be honest. If it’s not working, we stop. Okay?” He added.

More nods.

“So we’ll try it. Joint custody. Just as long as we don’t talk about what we do with each other.” Chance said.

Max looked a little put out by that, Will noticed. But he immediately nodded. “Agreed. Right?”

Max and Lucas exchanged looks, then nodded. “Agreed.”

The four just sat there, staring wide-eyed at each other. Still a little in disbelief. Apparently they were doing this. Really doing this. Will wasn’t having to choose. He could have both. They were offering him both. For the rest of senior year, if things went well. After that, who knows?

“We should make a schedule. Certain days maybe, or trade each week.” Lucas suggested.

Will nodded, a little uncertainly. “Can we…can we do it later? Tonight’s been kind of a lot.”

Understatement of the year. In twenty-four hours, he’d gone from being a semi-popular loser with a mess of a love life, to king of the school with an even bigger mess of a love life. Granted it was a good mess. The best mess really.

So that was that. They were doing this. They were attempting the impossible. Which made sense. They’d achieved the impossible before. They’d killed monsters, destroyed evil and saved the land. So this was nothing. Supposedly.

“Breakfast!”

Will woke with a start. A few seconds later, a low groan reminded him that he wasn’t alone. Bewildered, he turned over to see Chance yawning.

“Urgh, what time is it?”

Suddenly, last night came flooding back.

Becoming king. Choosing all three. Getting Chance to drive him home, only for them to get a little lost along the way. The kind of lost that ended up with Chance’s mouth on his dick, bringing him to new heights of pleasure as they parked in the middle of the woods. Then his mouth on Chance’s dick as he tried to return the favour. It had been awkward and messy and they both spent way too much time giggling into each others’ mouths. But it was also kind of perfect. The perfect end to a perfect night.

Will had a boyfriend now. Two boyfriends actually. Well, two boyfriends and Max, who refused to call herself his girlfriend.

“That’s not who we are, Will. We’re Willax.” She had declared. “I’m your plus one.” She’d insisted.

Plus one, girlfriend, whatever it was, they were together now. Together and apparently sharing a bed. Something Will suddenly realised with growing horror.

“Will!”

“Shit!” He cursed to himself, scrambling to get out of bed.

“Whassit?” Chance mumbled, still half-asleep. He whined a little as Will left him alone. Exposing his bare chest to the cool breeze coming from his window.

“Chance, you gotta go! Dad’s gonna kill us!” Will hissed. “I’m coming!” He yelled back, praying it would give them a bit of time.

“That’s what you said last night.” Chance mumbled into the pillow. He started chuckling.

Will’s lips twitched, but he forced himself to frown instead. He hurried over, swatting at the lump under the covers until Chance finally emerged. Hair ruffled, still sweaty and wearing a smug little smirk that made it clear just what they’d both been up to last night. At least they had the sense to finish their activities in Chance’s car, before stumbling into Will’s bed early that morning.

“Shut up!” Will hissed. “Get moving!” He demanded. He then went over to the door, to check the coast was clear. He opened it.

“Morning. I think we need to have a little chat.”

Hopper stood in the doorway, expressionless. He looked past Will to see a shirtless Chance stumbling out of his son’s bed. At least he too looked appropriately horrified.

“Both of you.” Hopper said. He wasn’t asking.

Will swallowed, then nodded. At least he was wearing a shirt, that was his only saving grace in this situation.

“Shower’s free. It’s all yours.” He added, giving Chance a pointed look.

Chance took the gin, giving Will a sheepish apology as he passed, before scurrying inside the bathroom. The door closed with a click. Then Hopper turned back to Will.

“For your sake, I hope you didn’t do anything stupid.”

Will shook his head. Crazy? Yes. Weird? Sure. But stupid? No. Not stupid. Just…unconventional.

“He hurt you?” Hopper gave the bed another frown.

Will’s eyes widened. “We didn’t do anything. Not here. Not—”

Hopper held up a hand. “Don’t need to know. I really don’t need to know. Just use condoms when you do. And not when we’re home.”

Will nodded silently.

Hopper sighed. “So you picked him? Not Sinclair and Mayfield?” Will stayed quiet. Hopper frowned. Then he shook his head. “Forget it, I don’t want to know. Nor do I want to see anything. Got it?”

“Got it.” Will said quickly.

The ensuing silence was painful. After a couple of minutes, Hopper eventually cleared his throat.

“We’ll talk after breakfast.” With that, he left.

Will fell against the wall with a dull thud, sliding down it with a whimper. Jesus Christ, how humiliating had that been? Did that mean the others knew? But they hadn’t even done anything! Not in the house at least.

Chance came out a few minutes later, towel fastened securely around his waist. Will knew he was staring, his eyes fixated on a single bead of water that dripped from his hair and travelled down to his navel. He swallowed as it slid past toned pecs before landing on the towel. That was his boyfriend. One of his boyfriends. Now practically naked and hurrying inside his bedroom, shooting him a smirk as he noticed his eyes lingering.

Will whined a little, low in his throat. Sometimes life was just so unfair. So deliciously unfair.

He was already growing hard.

He cursed under his breath, following Chance back inside so he could change too. Chance waited for him, his own eyes watching every inch of exposed skin with an intenseness that left Will squirming. But they had no time for that now. Not when everyone no doubt knew Chance had spent the night. In his bed. After the dance. God, they had probably all drawn the same conclusion as Hopper. Breakfast was sure to be hell.

With a heavy sigh, Will forced Chance to follow him to breakfast. It was indeed hell.

It took Max twenty minutes to stop laughing after she found out.

“Max, come on!” Will whined, giving Lucas a pleading look.

Max continued laughing, then finally wiped her eyes, still giggling. “I’m sorry. But c’mon, if that happened to one of us, you’d be laughing your ass off too. Admit it!”

He probably would. Just not right in front of them, because apparently he had more manners

Will pouted. Lucas took that as an invitation and stole a kiss. Will couldn’t help but smile into it, chasing Lucas’ lips with his own until both were left panting. Determined not to be ignored, Max waited for the two to part, then kissed Will too, making him whine a little. More embarrassing sounds escaped him as she pulled back to kiss Lucas too, the two still pressed against Will, with Lucas’ hand already wandering to places Will desperately wanted touching.

Pulling back, Max giggled one last time before returning to her original position. “So Chance spent the night? What time did you get home?”

He and Chance had left the other two shortly after their conversation. Since El had driven him to the dance, Chance had offered to drive him home. The long way home, as it turned out.

Will smiled sheepishly. “Late.” He admitted. The implications of which had the other two giving him impressed looks.

“Then it’s our turn next time.” Max declared.

They’d all agreed not to go into detail about what went on in their absence. It was a rule all four had agreed to, insisted on even. Yet that didn’t do anything to stop the burning questions they all had, which they were forced to clamp down on.

He smiled, a little shyly this time. “Okay.”

The other two grinned.

“So your family knows about you and Chance now?” Lucas asked.

It was probably for the best. Queer relationships were already a challenge. Anything like what they had, would probably make their heads explode.

“Uh…well…” Will avoided their eyes.

“Well what?” Max demanded to know.

He winced. “Dad, Hopper, knows. About Chance. About you guys.”

They both stared at him. He picked at the bedsheet, trying not to look at them still.

“Hopper knows about us? All of us? What about your mom?”

He shook his head. “Not yet. She knows about Chance, but I didn’t really wanna give her a heart attack just yet. She’s…she’s happy for me though. I’ll…I’ll tell her soon.”

Max frowned, then leaned forward to rest her hand on his arm. “Don’t. Don’t feel like you have to.”

Will shook his head again. “I know I don’t have to. But I want to. I just…it’s hard.”

Max’s mom didn’t know about Will. Nor did Lucas’ parents. He was pretty sure Erica knew something though, or at least suspected. Will was right. It was hard. Unbelievably hard. And quite frankly, nobody else’s business. But Joyce was different. She was the mom who had been there for them all from the very start. She knew things, so many things. Out of any mom in the world, they were pretty sure that she’d be the one to support them yet again.

“Yeah. No rush, okay?” Lucas smiled at him softly. Reminding Will of how he used to smile at him, back when they were kids. Something that always left him feeling warm and safe.

He nodded, giggling a little when the two pulled him into a shared hug. Lucas was the first one to escalate things, not that the other two were complaining. Soon, those giggles morphed into little moans and whimpers as lips met skin and hands wandered.

Will groaned into Max’s mouth when Lucas’ hand slipped lower, pulling his jeans down just enough to slip a hand underneath. Max pulled back, grinning wolfishly at him, before moving to kiss along his neck, leaving him panting as he stared up at the ceiling. He heard some rustling then moans indicating that the other two had joined him in yanking down their pants, so they could touch each other.

They didn’t go any further than wandering fingers and tongues. Going further required more preparation. And Will still had to decide who he wanted to be his first. But in the meantime, they could happily explore each others’ sweet spots. The ones they could reach that is. Secure in the knowledge that all of this was allowed. That nobody was cheating or going to get hurt.

A few weeks later, Will finally lost his virginity in Chance’s bedroom. His parents had apparently gone out of town and his sister was at a sleepover, giving the two some much needed privacy. It hadn’t been easy, a lot of preparation was needed. Both physical and mental. But it was exactly what Will hoped it would be. A memory he would cherish, no matter what happened.

Chance had been patient. He’d been gentle too. Helping him navigate a new kind of intimacy that was both thrilling and kind of terrifying to think about. With every push, every thrust, Will tried to force himself to relax around the invading organ. Chance continued his thrusts. He grunted into the back of Will’s neck each time, muttering curses and praises throughout. Each time he did, Will felt that tiny spark of warmth inside grow more and more, until he felt warm all over.

Eventually, it became easier. He could focus more on Chance’s hands and mouth, as they tried to bring him pleasure. Causing his hips to thrust up into talented fingers, then thrust back onto the cock buried in his ass. For Will, it was all just too much. And soon enough, like the virgin he no longer was, he found himself shuddering through his release, his face contorting with overwhelming pleasure. A short time later, Chance followed him, panting through his release and breathing heavy against the back of Will’s neck. Will’s skin prickled at the sensation, as a dopey little grin spread across his face.

“You okay?” Chance asked him once it was done.

Was he okay? He was a little overwhelmed honestly. It was all just so much to process.

“Yeah.” He whispered back, still smiling. Still giddy.

Then Chance kissed him, before removing the condom, tying it, then throwing it in the trash. Will stayed where he was, panting as he stared up at the ceiling. Just trying to process the fact that he was no longer a virgin. In any sense of the word.

If only his younger self could see him now. Mr. Popular, two hot boyfriends, finally getting some action. He really was living the American high school dream.

“Sore?”

Will nodded. Was he even going to be able to walk tomorrow? He really wasn’t sure. Good thing it was the weekend.

“Want me to kiss it better?” Chance grinned cockily.

Will swatted him, grinning back. “Shut up.” He whined, before accepting another kiss.

A couple of weeks later, he ended up in very much the same position. Just a different bedroom, with a different boyfriend and a plus one to boot. Even if what he and Max had really wasn’t the same thing.

Once again he found himself cursing into the mattress as he was split open once more. This time wasn’t any less overwhelming. Lucas was thicker than Chance, a little longer too. Max hadn’t been lying when she said he was big.

Max was right there, just as naked as they were, fingers wet with lube from when she’d helped to open him up. Just like she promised. She was there to distract him with sweet kisses and whispered words, as he panted through the burn. She was there to stroke his hair and offer praise when Lucas finally bottomed out. Her presence should have been awkward. It should have been weird. But it wasn’t. It was comforting. She knew what it was like. She knew exactly how it felt to have Lucas splitting her open. Will appreciated having her there, even if all he could do was pant and whine with every thrust. Before eventually groaning through his orgasm. Behind him, Lucas swiftly followed.

Will soon returned the favour for Max. He helped her get ready, opening her up one finger at a time, then couldn’t look away as Lucas pushed in. The glide of her slick and extra lube made it easier than it had been with him. But even so, Max still gasped and whined until Lucas finally bottomed out. This time, Will was the one to give praise and comfort, as the sound of slapping flesh and breathy moans filled the bedroom.

Lucas’ parents were out. Erica too, thank God. Because none of them would have survived if she had seen any of this.

Will watched as Max screeched as she came. Her thighs trembling through her orgasm, as they clamped down around Lucas’ still thrusting hips. Just like with Will, it wasn’t long before Lucas’ orgasm followed. He yanked off the condom, tied it and threw it away, before crashing down onto the bed with a loud groan. He lay in the middle, arms splayed. Beckoning towards Max and Will, silently asking them to join him. How could they refuse?

With the final barrier breached, Will no longer felt a need to hold back. Neither did his boyfriends or Max. Their initial attempts to stick to a schedule, so that Will could spend equal time with them all, really hadn’t lasted. Instead, Will just spent almost all his free time with at least one of them. Sometimes innocently, as they did homework together. Sometimes less innocently, leaving him panting into the sheets.

Their relationships weren’t perfect. Arguments happened. Disagreements were common. And in the end, did they really expect this to last? Not really. They all kind of expected graduation to be the end of this, if they even made it that far. But that just made them determined to enjoy this until then. To make good memories together. Memories that Will could use, when the pressures of school and life became overwhelming once he moved away for college.

Secretly, Will knew this probably wouldn’t last. But for once, he was trying hard not to focus on the negatives. Here and now, life was finally good. He was happy. He was loved.

Only a select few would know why Will cried so hard during graduation. With one boyfriend on his left, another on his right and Max sobbing just as hard as they handed each other tissues.

They had made it. In so many ways.

Will couldn’t stop smiling.
