Work Text:
"You’re face is bare.” Alice notes, sitting at the couples shared dining table, eating breakfast. Her hair is tied up already, and she is dressed up. Since leaving her beautiful Rose Mansion, she still takes pleasure in keeping her old routine of being a Noblewoman.
Hanako’s face goes pink, “Anything wrong with that?”
“Well of course not, you look lovely.”
Hanako takes a deep breath, relieved that her lover does not mind. She begins slowly eating breakfast with Alice. It’s peaceful like this, just the two of them. No need to hide their love for each other any longer.
“Mind if I… help with your makeup?” Alice requests, smiling softly at her girlfriend from across the table. She reaches her hand out to gently cover Hanako’s hands. They’re cold, per usual.
“N-no! I don’t mind at all!” Hanako squeaks. Alice has always loved how expressive Hanako is. The way her eyes widen, the way she slightly twitches when she’s nervous.
She nods, waiting for Hanako to finish her meal. Once she does, Alice stands up and gestures for Hanako to follow along. She takes slow steps towards their shared restroom, and allows the other to sit in a chair. Alice bends over and begins applying products to Hanako's face.
“You look beautiful” the blonde whispers, gently patting Hanako’s face with a brush. Her face goes red, but no words come out. She continues applying the makeup, her hands soft as they gently brush against her skin. Hanako looks softly into Alice’s eyes as she works, admiring her focus. Soon, Alice begins applying powder onto Hanako’s soft skin, causing her to sneeze.
“Keep still” Alice mutters, placing her hands onto the others waist as she continues to work. Hanako doesn’t mind, enjoying every moment of touch that she gets with Alice. She draws eyeliner onto Hanako’s face, admiring her soft hazel eyes and the way her lashes flutter when they close. She remembers how Hanako once cried during their separation with those same eyes, and she hopes to never see it happen again.
Once Alice is finished, she places a soft kiss onto her girlfriends forehead, before they’re soon kissing. Alice has never felt more at peace than when her lips are to Hanako’s. They’re so soft, and they’re nothing like how she expected a kiss from a man to feel like. It’s a lovely feeling, really. Her hands move to cup Hanako’s face and feel the soft skin, covered in the work of art she spread onto her face. Somehow, after all the time she’s spent with her partner, she’s still not over the feeling she gets when she’s kissing Hanako. She’ll never get used to it, and she never thought she’d even get to kiss a woman. What a privilege it is to have escaped and to be with a woman as lovely as the one in front of her.
When Alice pulls away, Hanako looks softly into Alice’s eyes, before leaning in for more. Alice giggles, letting it happen, before whispering, “I love you, my pretty girl.”
“I love you more…”
It’s the moments like these, that prove to Alice that her decision was the right one. How awful her life could have been if the wedding went on. How poor she would have been, despite being a noblewoman. To have her perfect maid, removed off the property. Well, she might as well stop living without that light in her life. The new story they weaved together, without her old riches and family, was the best thing to happen to her. Now she can truly live.
