Chapter Text

"Star-san, your presence has been requested in Grand Maestro's office."
"Oh? thank you, I shall head there right away,"
Star responded to the Symphonia worker that was standing in the doorway.
They curtly walked towards the dark, rich brown, wooden piece that stood between them and the grey and white striped hallway.
The worker stepped aside to let them through, Star flashed a small smile of gratitude before leaving the worker standing at the same place they were moments before.
Star dragged their fingers across the wallpaper-covered walls, admiring the simple pattern printed upon it. Their white, trainer like shoes made little to no noise each time they hit the grey coloured carpet, only small strands of fabric were out of place. Shadows danced around them as they walked, the chandeliers hanging above underneath a cream, cone-shaped lampshade, barely lighting the passage up.
They reached a similar, chocolate brown door that sealed the break room, but this one had two doors and was twice the size.
Star knocked lightly on the dark, oak wood that was blocking the entryway. A small, hollow sound reverberated around them and hopefully in the room on the other side of the wall as well.
A feminine voice responded to the miniature sound, with an even quieter,
"come in,"
which was barely heard from Star's side of the segmented rooms.
They nervously pushed open the door, the heavy-ness of it able to be felt as it dragged across the carpet, hopefully not discolouring the pristine grey colour.
Their eyes were met with the same patterned and coloured wall, though, bookshelves lined either side. Many books old and new sat in the polished, wooden frames, dust abundant from their paper covers. A large, same coloured, wooden desk was placed in the far-middle of the room, many pieces of paperwork stacked neatly upon it, along with a lamp that lit up the parchments underneath. Behind, sat the Grand Maestro, his green locks falling either side of his face and his gold-lined, black suit without any creases. Beside him was a fellow musicart, Heaven, her long black and under died grey hair fell down her back, almost reaching the floor, a golden pair of earrings and a golded clip to keep her hair in place. She also wore a long flowing blue bodice and white skirt dress, black belt and finished off with a plain, white cravat.
A voice paused their thoughts, as the Grand Maestro started to talk to them,
"Star-san, please take a seat."
They obliged, gracefully sitting down on the metal chair trying not to look like a fool.
His gaze softened as he looked at them, choosing how to word his next sentence.
While he got trapped in thought, Star glanced out of the window behind him, that took up the whole wall. Only other sides of buildings could be seen, various rooms releasing light from their gateway to the city.
"As you know, since you don't have a conductor, you aren't, uh, quite as powerful as you would be with one-"
"Star Understands, Grand Maestro,"
they answered, turning their gaze back to the man in front of them.
"-so, I have arranged for you to go on one of our Symphonia trains that will be arriving within a day. You shall go along with Hell and the Cheif Conductor. That is all"
"Understood, Grand maestro, thank you for your time,"
They replied once more sending a soft smile towards Heaven and Sagan as they got up from the chair, making sure it made no noise and made their way towards the door. Star pulled it towards them. Once again, it dragged across the clean carpet, thankfully not making a noise.
They let out a large breath as the door clicked shut behind them, nervousness tingling in every part of their body.
Star placed both hands on their knees, regaining their composure before heading back down the dully lit hallway.
They reached another dark oak door, this time it was the same size as the first. The number '15' was boldly engraved on a gold polished piece of metal, that was placed near the top of the door, perfectly in the centre.
They placed in a key and turned until they heard a satisfying click.
Star turned the handle and pushed open the door revealing a decent-sized living quarters. A double bed with multiple cushions; a chequered bedsheet; and a wooden frame was placed in the corner near the door. A small bathroom was on the opposite side of the room. Some wooden drawers, a small bookshelf and a wardrobe were also placed around the room. A large window facing the bed was on one of the sides of the room, white painted, small metal beams keeping it in place.
Star strolled up towards it, leaving the door open, the room exposed.
They placed their hand upon the see-through material, coldness sweeping over their skin that was squashed against it. They peered through, the vast cityscape of New York appearing before them, electric cars making no noise as they stopped at the traffic lights. whereas, the gas cars next to them did, making rumble after rumble.
The city lights danced across Stars face before they released themself from the world beyond and closed the baby blue coloured curtains.
Exhaustion crammed inside their brain, seemingly unable to escape. Though, none of that mattered for the moment, not until everything was done.
They walked towards their wardrobe at a snail's pace, wanting nothing more than to pass out.
Instead, they pulled out a dusty suitcase and pulled a few clothes out from their hiding.
22:43
Their clock's light shone in their eyes as they stared towards it, taking some time to process the information before they realised what that meant.
Star soon realised that they had packed their nightwear, their fatigue forgetting that it needed to get rid of itself.
They decided against pulling it out from underneath many and flopped onto their bed instead, the bedsheet surrounding them in a cosy darkness.
